Papers Presented at the XVIIth World Congress of CIGR Available on the Web PDF Print E-mail

Papers and abstracts presented at the XVIIth World Congress of CIGR are now available on the web.  They can be reached through the congress web site (www.cigr2010.ca) or by visiting the permanent archives of the Canadian Society for Bioengineering.

The International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (www.cigr.org) held its World Congress for the first time in Canada (Québec City) on June 13-17, 2010.  A total of 746 papers were presented by delegates from 46 different countries.  Technical sessions were organized in all seven CIGR sections: Section I on land and water engineering, including EnviroWater 2010; Section II on buildings and environment; Section III on field machinery; Section IV on energy; Section V on ergonomics and systems engineering; Section VI on processing; and Section VII on information systems.  In addition, the program included the 9th International Drainage Symposium sponsored by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, the 10th Annual Meeting of the American Ecological Engineering Society, the 8th World Congress on Computers in Agriculture, a Nanotechnology Symposium and an  Aquacultural Engineering program.

Each paper can be found in the technical Section or technical program where it was presented. The web site allows searches by authors or keywords.  The web site also includes the “Book of Abstracts” grouping all presentations in a single document.  Individual full papers and abstracts can easily be downloaded.

The organizing committee thanks all participants for their time and effort to share state-of-the-art information in their area of specialization.  The electronic papers are not peer-reviewed.  Authors wishing to submit their full papers for peer reviewing are free to submit to a journal of their choice.  Within the coming months, the Editor of the Canadian BioEngineering Journal is planning to invite several authors to submit their full papers to CBE.  Authors who wish to accelerate the process for a peer-reviewed article should contact directly the journal of their choice.

For those who missed out on the opportunity to visit Québec and Canada, or who would like to come again, another meeting on concrete in agriculture is scheduled on 18-21 September 2011 (http://bioeng.ca/csas2011).

The congress provided a wealth of information for the progress of agricultural and biosystems engineering.  Share the information with colleagues locally and abroad.
