CIGR Section II Organizes Technical Sessions on “Emissions from Naturally Ventilated Buildings” PDF Print E-mail

As a part of the XVIIth CIGR World Congress that will be held on June 13-17, 2010, in Quebec City, Canada, CIGR Section II (Farm Buildings, Equipment, Structures and Livestock Environment) is planning technical sessions on the theme of “Emissions from naturally ventilated buildings”.

Environmental impact of gas, odour and aerosol emissions from livestock buildings were identified as important issues over the last decade. Despite considerable efforts to understand and solve these problems, several challenges remain with emissions from naturally ventilated buildings.

The planned technical sessions are aimed at bringing together engineers and scientists to discuss latest achievements and research opportunities. The sessions will focus on emissions from naturally ventilated buildings (e.g. animal housing, greenhouses, storage facilities, manure storage etc.) associated with the following topics:

  1. Field measurements, model experiments and computer simulation;
  2. Methods to quantify concentrations, ventilation rates and emissions;
  3. Methods to control air flow, emissions, inside climate and energy use;
  4. Methods to reduce gas, aerosol and odour emissions;
  5. Assessment of aerosol, gas and odour emissions.

All interested parties with expertise in this field are encouraged to participate in the sessions. A planning group under the leadership of Dr. Hisamitsu Takai (Aarhus University, Denmark; This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. To submit a paper, visit the Congress web site (www.cigr2010.ca) and indicate Section II technical track (Farm Buildings, Equipment, Structures and Livestock Environment). The deadline for submission is November 20, 2009.
