Dear Colleagues, The local organizing committee is pleased to announce that the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers has agreed to hold its IXth International Drainage Symposium in Quebec City, Canada, June 13 to 16, 2010, in conjunction with CIGR 2010. The XVIIth World Congress of CIGR will be held jointly with the 52nd Annual Conference of the Canadian Society for Bioengineering (CSBE / SCGAB). The entire organization of these joint activities is under the sponsorship of CSBE / SCGAB. The ASABE International Drainage Symposium has a long history of excellence and bringing together a broad spectrum of experts to discuss surface drainage, subsurface drainage, interactions with crop production, soil salinity and drinking water availability. Broader issues such as water quality, channel and structure design and water management will also be included. The two previous ASABE International Drainage Symposia were Drainage VIII, held 21-24 March, 2004 in Sacramento, California, and Drainage in the 21st Century, held March 8-11, 1998 in Orlando, Florida. A few copies of the proceedings of these conferences are still available from www.asabe.org under publications. The local organizers in Quebec City are pleased that this ASABE activity will be accessible to all CIGR 2010 participants. In this way, the entire conference will gain from valuable interactions between representatives of diverse countries and continents. A web site for CIGR 2010 is already available for those who wish to plan to be part of this international conference on agricultural and food engineering (www.cigr2010.ca ). The web site will be continuously updated in the coming months, with a call for papers in spring 2009, abstracts expected by October 2009 and full papers in February 2010. We hope to see several of you at this future meeting. Dr. Philippe Savoie Research Scientist / Adjunct Professor |
