The XVIIth World Congress organisational comity, for the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, announces that it will manage the upcoming event ecoresponsibly. To reach their goal they have established an ecoresponsability program that will contribute to international sustanability efforts for this type of event.

An ecoresponsable event promotes a sustainability effort at all process of its organization. It aims to reduce negative impacts that the congress poses to the environment at all levels from planning to execution (aims at producing minimal waste, reducing greenhouse gases, minimal consumption of natural resources, etc.). The event will focus on having a positive social and economic impact in the local community by working with local suppliers, practicing fair trade, promoting sustainability, by redistributing excesses to local charities, etc.

The following concrete actions will take place to achieve our goals:

1. Minimal use of paper and promotional articles
   1. by asking all participants to carry personal pens and note pads
   2. by offering all participants the possibility of receiving the abstract proceedings on a usb memory stick
   3. by using paper products with at least 50% recycled material
2. 80% of consumables will be valued
   1. products will be recycle to extend their life cycle
   2. food service products will be compostable
3. Table settings will be durable and reusable for meal services as well as coffee breaks, place settings will be made of porcelain and cutlery will be reusable;
4. Regional products and the local economy will the promoted by using local suppliers to offer food and beverage services;
5. Participants will be encouraged to confirm what meals they intended to be present at during the conference (welcome cocktail, award ceremony, and lunches)
6. All unconsumed meals will be distributed to a local charity
7. Water will be available through fountains and water pitchers and will be served in recycle glasses
